Hula Hooping is not a lost art.
In fact, it seems to be making quite the comeback these days. Hula Hooping has come full-circle and is appealing to people of all ages. Not only is it fun, but we’re finding out that it’s a great workout! Hooping can tone up your core as well as your arms and legs and actual “hooping classes” are being offered locally in many states. It’s also a wonderful workout for your face — because as we’ve proven here at the Science Center, anyone who picks up a hoop is guaranteed to SMILE.
On 9/9/09, we celebrated World Hoop Day. Every year it moves ahead one month (10/10/10, etc) and this has been our second annual local celebration. Hoop Day originally began as a charity to reach out to underprivileged children to share with them the joy of hooping as well as the benefit of exercise.
Our guests took advantage of the beautiful weather and were all good sports about giving hooping a shot (or in some cases, another chance).
