Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere
Did you know that the “sport” of bubble blowing didn’t materialize until the 19th century? Bubbles have been around forever but it wasn’t until soap became a common household product that people began to see the fun side of bubbles. The Pears Soap Company in England is largely responsible for introducing the concept that made bathtime into playtime (well, at least a little bit).
Now in 2009 we can thank Pears Soap for giving us the inspirtation for our Bubble Weekend!
Bubbles might seem like simple things, but in reality there’s a lot of science behind them and plenty of bubble-tastic activities to do. We’re going to celebrate bubble wonder by making bubble solution, creating colorful bubble art, conjuring up glowing bubbles and learning why bubbles are always spherical. The bubble genius himself, Casey Carle, will also be here to wow us with his bubble variety show, Bubblemania!
Activities are 12-4 pm on Saturday and Sunday and are free with paid admission to the Science Center. We’ll just burst with disappointment if you don’t join us!
