What’s that smell?
If you’ve been in Baltimore City over the past day or so, you’ve probably noticed a pungent aroma of what seems to be a mix of trash, fish and death.
What’s to blame for the foulness? An algae bloom. The bloom caused the level of Oxygen in the water to drop and therefore killing at least 3,000 fish so far.
It’s possible that there could be more blooms and fish kills in other areas. Although the algae (Prorocentrum minimum) is non-toxic, it needs to be dealt with accordingly so if you happen to notice that something is amiss in water near you, please call 877-224-7229.
