Amelia Earhart Crosses the Atlantic
On this day in 1932, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She departed Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, Canada and arrived near Londonderry, Ireland. Her trip took 13 hours and 30 minutes and covered 2,026 miles.
It’s interesting to stop and thing about how much has changed since then, especially in Baltimore where we see planes flying in and out all the time!
Earhart disappeared five years later on June 2, 1937 while attempting a circumnavigational flight of the globe.
